November 13 Concert: Walter Witt (Yale College '84) gave a piano concert of works by Schubert, Chopin, Liszt, Fauré, Debussy and Rachmaninoff.
September 15 Walking tour with the Yale and Harvard clubs: The Harvard and Yale Clubs of France joined Brad Newfield, a French-American guide for Paris Walks. On this walk we enjoyed the off-the-beaten-path Montmartre where Van Gogh, Lautrec, Picasso, Renoir, and Utrillo had their artists studios. We saw quiet squares and gardens, the Lapin Agile cabaret, the place-du-Tertre with its artists and the Sacré Coeur Basilica. Brad Newfield, a former Angelino who has lived in Paris since 1994, has a Ph.D in History from UCLA, lectured in History and Communication Studies, and develops walking tours on historical themes in Paris, in order to bring together the city's past and present in untraditional ways.
July 6 Picnic with the Yale Club: We celebrated with the Yale Club the Summer with a picnic at Parc des Buttes Chaumont.

Alice Kaplan is a specialist of 20th century France. Her teaching and research have focused on the Second World War, the Liberation, and the Algerian War, and on the writers Céline, Proust, and Camus. Kaplan is a former Guggenheim Fellow, a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and a recipient of the French Légion d’Honneur as well the Los Angeles Times Book Prize in History and the Henry Adams Prize.

March 28 Opera - recital: Opera singer and Yale alumnus Lauren Libaw, composer and pianist Daniel Schlosberg and artist Yaya Chang celebrate 10 years in the City of Light with a special evening of art and song : “Three Americans in Paris”. The musical program will include the premiere of a newly commissioned song cycle by Daniel Schlosberg on poems by Lydia Davis, French and American song, standards from the French cabaret tradition, and selections from the Great American Songbook, contemporary musical theater and American film by Herman, Sondheim, Tesori and Yeston. Artist Yaya Chang presents a vernissage of work inspired by the evening’s music to illuminate the evening.
January 28 Talk: Henry Wooster (Yale '89) Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy Paris, will gave a review of economic and political issues that affect US. Henry Wooster is a career member of the Senior Foreign Service. He has been Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy Paris since August 2018. From 2015 to 2018 he was DCM and then Charge d’Affaires in Amman. Other assignments have included Political Counselor, Embassy Islamabad; Director for Central Asia, the National Security Council; Foreign Policy Advisor to the Commanding General, U.S. Joint Special Operations Command; Acting Deputy Assistant Secretary for Iran; Director of the Office of Iranian Affairs; Deputy Director of the Office of Provincial Affairs, Embassy Baghdad; Special Assistant to the Deputy Secretary; Deputy Director, Office of Iranian Affairs; Iran Desk Officer; Political Officer, Embassy Moscow; Executive Officer, U.S. Mission to NATO; Desk Officer, Office of Russian Affairs; Consul, Embassy Port au Prince; and Political Officer, Embassy Tbilisi. Before joining the Foreign Service, Henry was an Army officer. He holds an M.A. from Yale University and a B.A. from Amherst College.

A graduate of the Los Angeles Conservatory of Music (Mae Gilbert Reese, a student of Nadia Boulanger), Yale, Georgetown and the Rachmaninoff Conservatory, he debuted at the age of 13 years with the Westchester-Marina del Rey Philharmonic performing Mozart's D minor concerto. He was first prize winner of the Music Teachers' Association piano competition in California. He has also studied with the renowned pianist and artist, Menahem Pressler, founder of the Beaux Arts Trio. A resident of France, Walter is CEO of an investment & advisory firm and serves as adjunct professor at Ecole des Ponts et Chaussées. He is a founding member of "Tous En Concert", a pianists association in France, as well as President of the Chopin Paris Society, an association which organizes concerts and visits focused on the life of Chopin in Paris and the Romantic movement surrounding Chopin in the 1830s.
