  • October 16 Yale-Princeton Wine Tasting: Twenty alumni of Yale and Princeton joined together for a wine tasting. Wine expert Allison Bonnett featured wines from regions favored by Thomas Jefferson.

  • September 28 College Fair: We participated in the annual College Fair in Paris. Beth Pavlicek ’06, Greg Taylor ’07 and Everett Hutt ’92 spoke to hundreds of prospective Yale College applicants for the freshman class entering September 2009 (Class of 2013).

  • September 15 Dinner with the Yale Club: Yale Professor Timothy Snyder regaled a crowd of alumni over dinner at the famous Procope restaurant with stories of intrigue, politics and cross-dressing concerning the enigmatic Hapsburg Prince Wilhelm von Habsburg (1895 - 1949). A lively Q&A session followed concerning nationalism and national identity.

  • September 5 Yale World Fellows Cocktail and Panel Discussion: Over 50 Yale alumni and friends listened to CNN correspondent Jim Bitterman discuss “Post modern news – Cacophony & Chaos in a 24/7 Multi-Media World.” A lively debate and cocktail followed.

  • July 17 & 19 Whym’n Rhythm Concerts: The senior all-female a capella singing group Whym⁽n Rhythm gave two conerts in Paris that were well attended by both Yalies and the public at large.

  • July 3 Fourth of July Cocktail: Both American and French alumni/a celebrated American Independence Day a day early at this cocktail celebration sponsored by numerous universities and the American Chamber of Commerce in Paris. It was held at the Orangerie of BNP Paribas.

  • June 30 Annual Meeting: Fulfilling our legal obligation as an “Association 1901,” the Yale Club of France held its annual meeting. The President’s review of events this past year and the Treasurer’s report of the funds available were approved. Elections for the Club officers were also held.   • June 19 15th Annual All-Alumni Cocktail Reception: For the fifteenth year in a row, Yale had a strong turnout at the annual reception held at the U.S. Ambassador’s residence for alumni of all American Universities.

  • June 4 Alley Cats and Yale Summer School: The a capella singing group The Alley Cats were in great voice at a free concert for over 40 Yale Summer School students and Yale Alumni in France.

  • May 21 Yale/Harvard Awards Cocktail: Yale and Harvard held an awards ceremony and cocktail at the U.S. Ambassador's residence. Over 30 Yalies watched as Yale presented its Book Award to three high school Juniors and Harvard its scholarships to graduate students.

  • April 12 Walking tour of Paris: Ten Yalies enjoyed a historical walking tour of Paris focusing on the Paris of Benjamin Franklin and Thomas Jefferson.

  • April Admissions: For September 2008 matriculation (Class of 2012), we had three students admitted to Yale College. Almost all of the record 40 applicants from France were interviewed — many thanks to our interviewers.

  • March 13 Dinner with the Yale Club: Dean Harold Attridge of the Yale Divinity School joined us to talk about “Religion, Yale and 2008.” The lively discussion among 13 alumni and friends centered around religion at Yale today and politics in both the USA and Europe.



  • February 3 Feb Club Party: The venerable Yale undergraduate tradition (now defunct) returned to Paris on a cold February night. Yalies from the classes of 2007 to 1971 joined in the celebrations. Thanks to Jim Ragsdale '88 for organizing and Minter '87 and Yendi Dial for hosting.

January 17 Q&A with Dean Podolny of SOM: More than 25 SOM and Yale Graduates joined a Q&A session with Dean Podolny of SOM, who was joined by Ann Olivarius (Y'77; Law/SOM '86). Dean Podolny talked about the exciting changes taking place at SOM and the school's actions, with help provided by Ms. Olivarius, to enhance minority and female representation in professional service firms.
