2006

  • November 18 Yale-Harvard Game Dinner: Nearly 25 members of both the Yale and Harvard Clubs of France renewed this annual gridiron tradition. Both sides cheered on their respective teams at the first ever live video stream of The Game, which Yale won (of course!) 38-12 to capture it's first Ivy League title since 1999.

  • October 18 Harvard Cocktail Mixer: For the fifth year in a row, Yalies were a strong contingent at this perennial expat event on the Seine.

  • September 30 College Fair: We participated in the annual College Fair in Paris. Brian Murray '06 and Everett Hutt spoke to hundreds of prospective applicants to Yale College for the freshman class entering September 2007 (Class of 2011).

  • September 11 Dinner with the Yale Club: Richard France (Drama '66), author of numerous plays and an expert on Orson Welles, talked to us about Welles' political activities from 1936-1947 as well as his new play about Welles that just opened in Paris.

  • July 11 Yale/Harvard Cocktail at US Embassy: Reviving a tradition, Yale and Harvard held a joint cocktail at the US Ambassador's residence.

  • July 3 Annual Meeting: Fulfilling our legal obligation as an “Association 1901,” the Yale Club of France held its annual meeting. The President's review of events this past year and the Treasurer's report of the funds available were approved. Elections for the Club officers were also held. The current year’s officers are listed here.

  • June 13 Lecture and Cocktail with Yale Summer School in France: Over 10 alumni joined as many Yale students to hear Professor Marke Burde give a lecture, “Of Caricatures and Character: Some Remarks on the History of Franco-American (Mis)understanding”. It was followed by discussion and then a buffet enjoyed in the cool garden of Reid Hall.

  • June 8 13th Annual All-Alumni Cocktail Reception: Yale had the largest turnout (17 members) of any university at this annual favorite. The reception was held once again at the US Ambassador's residence.

  • April 5 Dinner with the Yale Club: Geoffrey Kabaservice (BA 1988, PhD 1999), author of The Guardians: Kingman Brewster, His Circle, and the Rise of the Liberal Establishment, led a lively discussion with 10 members about Yale and social change in 1960s America.

  • April Admissions: For September 2006 matriculation (Class of 2010), we had five students admitted to Yale College, three more than last year. Two were admitted early action. Of the 34 applicants, we were unable to interview only two. Thanks to all the interviewers.

  • March 10 & 12 Two a capella Singing Groups: Magevet and Proof of the Pudding, regaled over 15 alumni at two different concerts. Magevet delighted a large synagogue audience and the Yalies in attendance, while Proof charmed us with an intimate concert in a member's apartment.

  • March 7 American Chamber of Commerce Cocktail: For the first time in several years, Yale joined this annual event for an evening of cocktails and networking.

January 26 Musical Night with the Yale Club: Several Yalies braved the cold weather to hear the Orchestre National de Paris in an excellent concert of 20th century classical music. We had coffee afterwords in a nearby cafe.
