  • November 25 Thanksgiving Dinner with the AUC: This event, organized by the American University Clubs of Paris (of which Yale was a founding member), was held at l‘Atelier de Maître Albert, owned by chef Guy Savoy.

  • November 23 Yale-Harvard Game Live Viewing: having fun at the Moose Bar is more important than the score…

  • October 16 Dinner with Mattie Wheeler: During a lively and enjoyable evening, Mattie Wheeler presented her senior thesis, “Saharan petroleum as a driving factor in the construction and deterioration of the Franco-Algerian privileged relationship,” in a “Dinner with the Yale Club” event.

  • September 29 College Fair: Once again, we participated in the annual College Fair in Paris where volunteers from the club spoke to hundreds of high school students interested in applying to Yale College.

  • September 23 Harvard Peniche Party: Young Yalies joined the throngs of people at this annual favorite held on a boat moored on the Seine.

  • September 8 Walking tour of WW2/Resistance Paris: members of the Yale and Wellesley clubs enjoyed a history-filled afternoon exploring the city, starting at the Hôtel Lutetia, to le Jardin de Luxembourg and finishing on Île de la Cité. Much was learned by all.

  • July 7 Quiz Night: Yalies joined members of the Stanford Club and alumni of other universities to test their wits at the Highlander pub.

  • July 1 Annual Meeting: Fulfilling our legal obligation as an « Association 1901 », the Yale Club of France held its annual meeting. The President’s review of events this past year and the Treasurer’s report of the available funds were approved. Elections for the Club’s officers were also held. The current year’s officers are listed here.

  • June 30 Whym ’n Rhythm Concert: Yale’s senior all-female a capella singing group gave a rousing concert at the Swan Bar in the 6tharrondissement.

  • June 25 Speech by Professor Adam Tooze: Yalies made up a good number of the attendees at Sciences Po to hear History Professor Adam Tooze talk about his book “The Wages of Destruction”.

  • June 24: 19th annual All-Alumni Cocktail Party at the Hotel Talleyrand: The Club had a strong turnout at this annual favorite held at the Marshall Center in the Hotel Talleyrand on the Place de la Concorde. The host, for the last time before his return to the States, was the U.S. Ambassador to France (and Yale Graduate) Charles Rivkin (’84).

  • June 12: Speech by Yale Professor Vladimir Alexandrov: Professor Alexandrov regaled a crowd of 15 Yalies and Princetonians with a lively speech and Q&A about his new book “The Black Russian”.

  • June 6 & 7 Whiffenpoof Dinner Concerts: Numerous Yalies showed up at two restaurants where the all-male senior a capella group “The Whiffenpoof’s” sang for their dinners. Members reported that the Whiffs were in great voice.

  • May 28 Yale – Harvard Awards Cocktail Reception: Yale and Harvard held an awards ceremony and cocktail at the U.S. Ambassador’s residence. Over 40 Yalies watched as Yale presented its Book Award to three high school Juniors and Harvard its scholarships to graduate students. U.S. Ambassador Charles Rivkin (’84) and Susan Tolson, now proud parents of two Yale Undergraduates, were again gracious hosts.

  • May 14 Recital by Lauren Libaw (’09): This club member was in fine voice at a recital attended by numerous alumni.

  • April 8 Happy Hour at Carr’s: A few intrepid Yalies were served up good cheer at a happy hour to herald the arrival of warm weather in Paris.

  • April Admissions: For September 2013 matriculation (class of 2017), we had four students admitted to Yale College. Applications from France were steady at 51 and nearly everyone was interviewed. We held a small reception for the admitted students. Many thanks to our interviewers and to Marguey Yates, who coordinated the entire activity.

  • March 12 Talk by Yale French Professor Alice Kaplan: Alumni from Yale and Smith College braved the harsh late winter conditions to hear Professor Kaplan (PhD 1981) speak about her newest book, “Dreaming in French”.

  • February 26 Dinner with Professor Eric Feldman: The latest “Dinner with the Yale Club” featured Professor Feldman, who led a stimulating discussion about Fukushima disaster compensation and general issues of compensation for natural and nuclear disasters.

  • February 13 Feb Club Party: We had a record turnout with over 30 alumni at the annual Feb Club party. Local Yale Club of France members were joined by alumni visiting from the U.S., as well as many officials from the University, including Yale Vice President Linda Lorimer and AYA Executive Director Mark Dollhopf.

January 25 Speech by William Christie (MUS ’69): The Arts Arena at the American University of Paris organized a talk by renowned musician William Christie. The event was very well-attended with many Yale alumni in the audience.
